Requirements of Study At Home Students
· Must be 21 years old
· Commitment to complete assignments
· 6 hours each week
· Complete an assessment and orientation at ALC **
· Connect with a teacher
· Cannot be in enrolled simultaneously in another GED class.
GED Study at Home! Requires a commitment to study. A teacher will prepare lessons to your individual needs. Students pick up materials and return them every two weeks. Also, lessons available through a drop-in tutoring session at the Adult Learning Center on Saturday mornings.
GED Online! Requires access to a computer with high speed Internet access and email or phone contact with your teacher each week. 3000 lessons are available to tailor the program to your specific needs.
Program Synopsis:
Pre-GED Connection
Provides introduction and basic knowledge for adult learners. It is used to introduce to students to the GED format and the necessary knowledge/skills to step up to GED Connection. Uses topical workbooks, DVDs, video (from WNED-TV Channel 17) with teacher phone call support to work students through the program.
GED Connection
DVD, video programs, workbooks and on-line activities (available) to make GED preparation easy for students with a variety of learning styles.

Designed for all new incoming students, this mandatory 1 or 2 day seminar helps students “gear up” for the adult learning lifestyle. Energetic facilitators motivate students to succeed, while reviewing healthy study and learning habits. Students complete paperwork, review school policies and procedures and undergo an initial assessment designed to place students within their own peer group of learners.
An appointment is required.
