Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Division offers Allied Health Courses training programs for Nurse Aide / Nursing Assistant and Medical Office Assistant.

These employment preparation courses are some of our most popular programs! To register for these programs, please register for Allied Health Orientation.


ALLIED HEALTH ORIENTATION

New students to Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Division must attend an Allied Health Orientation session at:

Current Adult Learning Center students or students at any of our satellites should meet with their Career Advisors for a referral.

  • PLAN ON STAYING THE ENTIRE TIME FOR ORIENTATION: 12:00pm-5:30pm
  • QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE PLACED ON THE WAITING LIST FOR THE NEXT AVAILABLE CLASS.

2009- 2010 ALLIED HEALTH ORIENTATION SCHEDULE

TIME: 12 NOON - 5:30 P.M.

JANUARY 2010: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6th AND JANUARY 20th
FEBRUARY 2010: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd AND THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18th
MARCH 2010: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3rd AND MARCH 17th
APRIL 2010: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14th AND APRIL 28th
MAY 2010: WEDNESDAY, MAY 12th AND MAY 26th
JUNE 2010: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9th


IN THE EVENT THE ALLIED HEALTH ORIENTATION IS ON A SUPERINTENDENT'S CONFERENCE DAY, IT WILL BE CANCELLED AND RESCHEDULED.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS*

Candidates must:

  • Attend an Orientation at the Adult Learning Center or current students must meet with their Career Advisor for referral
  • Score at least an 9.0 READING level and at least a 9.0 TOTAL MATH on at least a D LEVEL TABE test (academic assistance is available for candidates who do not meet this requiremnt)
  • Complete a series of assessments offered by our Vocational Assessment Department (Nurse Aide candidates will be drug tested at time of assessment)
  • BOTH Nurse and Medical Office Assistant candidates will be drug tested at time of assessment;
  • Attend an individual interview with the instructors and meet the criteria as determined by the Allied Health Department Staff
  • Nurse Aide Candidates will be required to provide documentation of immunization, results of a tuberculosis screening and assessment of total health
  • Nurse Aide Candidates are subject to drug testing at assessment and at any time during the training program
